Riesling “The Pieces” ~ Short life ~ Huge impact
After a valiant, fast and furious fight with Lymphoma, Riesling passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones on March 3, 2026.Prayer recited for her:Dear Lord,If she must go, let her go with her spirit intact. If she must go, let her go with dignity. If she must go, let her go with peace. If she must go, let her go with wings.Riesling will be greatly mourned and missed as she was her Mom’s soulmate dog, her Dad’s Sweetest dog of his life, and certainly meant much to 1,000’s of other people she crossed paths with throughout her short 7 years of life. At four months of age, she fell into the role as the lobby pup at Hotel Stebbins and lovingly, sweetly and entertainingly maintained that role until the day she passed. The familiar view of her sitting in the lobby bay window as guests drove up to check in or as passerby’s giggled at her perched there so proper, will be missed by many. The impact she had on so many people is truly amazing and we are proud, as her parents, to have been able to facilitate her role here on earth.Riesling was the sweetest, loyal, intelligent, athletic, and happiest dog I’ve ever known. She was an amazing playmate with her late brother Duke and late sister Mischka. Mischka gave Riesling a run for her money and she was beyond patient and forgiving with Mischka. She was known for her “half human” personality. She truly had a Paradoxical and Complex Personality.

I can’t say enough about her! How much she was loved is evident in the many nicknames she has, which was given to her by many different people, including “The Pieces”, “Bubby”, “My Friend”, “My Girl”, “Reese’s Pieces”, “NaNa”, “Peanut Butter Cup”, “Ries”, “Sweet Pea” and more.If someone were to say she was “just a dog”, they would be wrong. The hole she left in our world is huge and her legacy will live on in what she taught each and every human with whom she crossed paths. There is no doubt she is in heaven and chasing after each and every angel wing! Keep them on their toes my sweet girl. We can’t say how much we will miss you so until we see you again, visit us in our dreams.![]()
